TUC Post-Baccalaureate Options

The professional schools admissions process in general, and for medical and pharmacy schools specifically, has become much more competitive in recent years and that trend is expected to continue.  Whether it is used to broaden an established experience base, to address a lower than desired GPA, or to explore a complimentary field, earning a health-related Master's degree can be that final link in the chain which helps to secure acceptance to professional school. 

The information below quickly summarizes the health-related Master's degree programs offer at TUC, together with links to program and admissions websites for each.

Master of Science in Medical Health Science - Pharmaceutical Studies (MSMHS-COP)

The MSMHS-COP degree program is a one year, research-intensive master's degree program offered through the College of Pharmacy.  This program enhances knowledge in pharmacy sciences and provides an opportunity for engagement in research. Graduates of this program are prepared for positions in the health sciences in academia, research, and industry. In addition, students accepted into this program are guaranteed* an interview during the next application cycle for the Touro University California Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) program, provided they earn a GPA of 3.0 or better in all coursework.

Master of Public Health (MPH)

The MPH degree program is a 42 unit degree offered through the College of Education and Heatlh Sciences.  After completing several core courses, students select either a Community Health or a Global Health focus, which provides the expertise to become leaders in managing the current and emerging public health challenges of populations locally and abroad.  Public
health graduates fill crucial roles as advisors, policy and research analysts, and public health
specialists in a variety of settings.  MPH students who subsequently apply for and are accepted into either the College of Osteopathic Medicine or the College of Pharmacy before completing their MPH are eligible to receive up to 12 units of credit for the MPH as part of the medicine or pharmacy curriculum

Master of Science in Medical Health Sciences - COM (MSMHS-COM)

The MSMHS-COM degree program is a one year Master's degree program, offered through the College of Osteopathic Medicine, which focuses on the medical health sciences.  After completion of this program, students will have an increased basic medical science knowledge base, will have been fully engaged in a research project, and will have a much stronger application to medical school.  In addition, students accepted into this program are guaranteed* an interview during the next application cycle for the Touro University California College of Osteopathic Medicine, provided they earn a GPA of 3.25 or better in all coursework.
